The Friends of Tillamook Police is a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt corporation founded in January 2021. The incentive was to provide a way for citizens to make tax-deductible donations to assist the Tillamook Police Department in delivery of crime prevention and other youth services programs to all citizens of Tillamook. Public funding for crime prevention and other youth programs in Tillamook is limited; the City budget does not have a line item for crime prevention.
Friends of Tillamook Police does not have paid staff members. All FOTP officers, board members, and other associates are non-paid volunteers. FOTP office and web spaces are donated and FOTP has no operating costs other than State of Oregon fees of less than $100 per year. Thus donations go directly to work for the community.
In partnership with the Tillamook Police Department, FOTP uses donations to educate our community about crime prevention and to support major crime prevention and youth programs. FOTP also uses donations to buy equipment for the Tillamook Police and the Tillamook Police Cadets, to fund projects, and to help meet unexpected Departmental needs.
